“All business sellers listing items for sale in the EU and NI must include the product manufacturer's name and contact information — eBay GPSR requirement”

To comply with the GPSR and related regulations, all business sellers listing items for sale in the EU and NI must include the following information: The product manufacturer's name and contact information; If the manufacturer isn't located in the EU or NI, you'll have to indicate an EU-based Responsible Person or entity, along with their name and contact details; Any relevant product information like model number, pictures, and type; Product safety and compliance information like warnings and safety information (which can be included in labels and product manuals) in the local language; The CE marking when required by the related regulations applicable to your product.

What does this mean?

eBay is telling you that, as a business seller shipping to the EU or Northern Ireland, every affected listing now needs a fixed set of GPSR data — manufacturer contact details, an EU Responsible Person if the manufacturer is outside the EU/NI, and product safety information — entered in the listing's "Item disclosures" section. This is a data request, not an accusation: the EU's General Product Safety Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/988) has applied since 13 December 2024, and eBay built dedicated listing fields so sellers can meet it. In eBay's words: "We've introduced new functionality so it's easy for you to add this information to your listings."

The consequence of not acting is spelled out in the same Seller Center page: "If you don't comply with the GPSR, your listings may not be visible or purchasable to buyers in the EU and Northern Ireland." Your listing stays live elsewhere, but the EU/NI market silently disappears until the fields are filled. Visibility is restored automatically once the data is in.

Why did I get this?

The GPSR applies to consumer products sold to buyers in the EU and Northern Ireland — new and second-hand alike — and eBay applies it to all business sellers whose listings can be delivered there. Two points catch sellers out:

• Your registration country is irrelevant. eBay's help page states these rules apply to items you sell into the EU or NI "regardless of your registration country." A US, UK or Turkish seller shipping to Germany is fully in scope.
• "Manufacturer" often means you. If you make the product yourself (handmade, private label with your own branding responsibilities), your own business details go in the manufacturer field. If your manufacturer is outside the EU/NI, you additionally need an EU-based Responsible Person — an entity established in the EU that holds your compliance documentation and acts as the regulatory contact.

eBay announced the requirement by email to business sellers during 2024 and documents it in the Seller Center GPSR page and the Regulatory contacts help page.

How do I fix it? (step by step)

Single listing:

1. Open the listing in the editor and scroll to the Item disclosures section.
2. Turn on the Product manufacturer toggle and select "+ Add Product manufacturer". Enter the manufacturer's name, address and contact details.
3. If the manufacturer isn't in the EU/NI, select "+ Add EU responsible person" and enter your Responsible Person's name and contact details. eBay lets you save up to 5 Responsible Person records and reuse them across listings.
4. Turn on the Product Safety toggle where your product needs safety communication. Per eBay's Product safety disclosures help page, you can "choose up to 4 Pictograms and/or up to 8 Statements" plus additional information of 120 characters (no URLs).
5. Upload supporting documents if relevant: "Sellers can upload up to 10 product documents, per listing" in .pdf, .jpg or .png format, with multiple languages selectable per document — safety instructions, warning sheets, manuals.
6. Save/relist. Add the CE marking information where the product's regulations require it.

Many listings at once:

1. Go to Seller Hub → Listings and select the affected listings.
2. Choose Bulk edit → Item disclosures → Product manufacturer → "Change to" and apply your saved manufacturer and Responsible Person records — eBay's Regulatory contacts page has the step-by-step instructions.

No EU Responsible Person yet? You cannot truthfully complete the fields without one if your manufacturer is outside the EU/NI. eBay points sellers to providers including Webinterpret, Cert-Rep, Obelis and Eucerep. How do I prevent it?

• Make Item disclosures part of listing creation. Fill in manufacturer, Responsible Person and safety fields on every new EU/NI-eligible listing before publishing, so enforcement never touches you.
• Save and reuse your records. Enter your manufacturer and RP details once as saved records; bulk-apply them when you list in volume or migrate old listings.
• Prepare the safety content per product, not per crisis. The pictograms, warning statements and uploadable documents eBay asks for are the front end of a GPSR compliance file: risk assessment, safety instructions in the buyer's language, traceability and label content. Having that pack ready means a new field or a re-check costs you minutes.
• Decide your EU strategy explicitly. If you don't want to comply, exclude EU and NI destinations in your shipping settings — a deliberate choice is better than silently invisible listings.
