Amazon EU Compliance Fields Explained (Seller Central 2026)

2026-08-11

If you sell on Amazon's EU marketplaces (amazon.de, .fr, .it, .es, .nl, .pl, .se, .be, .ie), Seller Central asks you to complete a set of product safety and compliance fields — chiefly the manufacturer's contact details, an EU Responsible Person, and any safety warnings that must reach the buyer. These aren't Amazon inventions: they map almost one-to-one onto Article 19 of the EU's General Product Safety Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/988, "GPSR"), which has applied since 13 December 2024. Listings missing this information for in-scope products can be suppressed for EU buyers. Here's what each field means, what to enter, and how to recover a suppressed ASIN.

What does Amazon actually ask for?

Three core pieces of information, per product:

  1. Manufacturer contact information — the legal name, postal address, and email of whoever manufactured the product. If you make your own products, that's your business.
  2. EU Responsible Person — an economic operator established in the EU who answers for the product's safety. Required whenever the manufacturer is not based in the EU.
  3. Product safety information — warnings, pictograms, and safety instructions the buyer must be able to see in the listing (and receive with the product).

Depending on the category, the compliance section of a listing can also request country/region of origin, dangerous-goods (hazmat) information, battery details, and compliance certifications (e.g. CE-marked categories, toys, electronics). The exact set of fields varies by category and marketplace, so treat the listing editor's Safety & Compliance section as the source of truth for your product type, and search "General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)" in Seller Central Help for Amazon's current policy page.

Where do I find these fields in Seller Central?

In three places — any of them updates the same underlying attributes:

  • Per listing: Manage All Inventory → Edit → the Safety & Compliance (Product safety & compliance) tab of the listing editor.
  • In bulk: the compliance dashboard (Amazon has surfaced this as Manage Your Compliance / "Add compliance information"), which lists ASINs with missing safety attributes and lets you fill them in batches or via file upload.
  • Via feeds/API: category listing templates and the Listings API expose the same data as attributes — at the time of writing, GPSR-related data appears under attributes for manufacturer contact and safety information, alongside the DSA-era responsible-party address attribute. Attribute names change; always pull a fresh template rather than reusing an old one.

If Amazon has emailed you about GPSR gaps, the email usually deep-links to the exact ASINs affected.

What goes in each field — and which GPSR article does it satisfy?

Seller Central field What to enter GPSR basis
Manufacturer contact information Legal name + postal address + email of the manufacturer (you, if handmade/private label) Art. 19(a)
EU Responsible Person Name + postal address + email of your EU-established economic operator Art. 19(b), Art. 16
Product images / identifiers Clear photo, product type, model/SKU/batch identifiers Art. 19(c)
Safety warnings & pictograms Any warning that appears on the product, packaging, or documents — uploaded as images/text so buyers see them before purchase Art. 19(d)
Country/region of origin Where the product was made (customs data, not GPSR-specific)
Dangerous goods / battery info Hazmat classification, battery type and quantity where applicable Sector rules

Article 19 requires this information to be shown "clearly and visibly" in every online offer, and Article 19(d) adds that warnings must be in a language the destination country's consumers can easily understand — for a listing on amazon.de, that means German, not just English.

Who can be my EU Responsible Person?

Any economic operator established in the EU: the manufacturer's EU entity, an importer, an authorised representative, or a fulfilment service provider (Reg. (EU) 2019/1020, Art. 4, referenced by GPSR Art. 16). Practical options for non-EU sellers:

  • Paid authorised-representative services ("Responsible Person as a service") — the common route for small sellers; you get an EU name and address to use across marketplaces.
  • Your EU importer or 3PL, if you already route stock through one and they agree in writing.

Note that using FBA does not automatically make Amazon your Responsible Person — Amazon acts as marketplace (and sometimes fulfilment provider), but you are responsible for designating and declaring the RP for your products. The RP's details must also appear on the product, its packaging, or an accompanying document (GPSR Art. 16(3)) — the Seller Central field alone doesn't cover the physical-labelling half of the obligation.

Why was my listing suppressed, and how do I get it back?

The usual cause is a missing or invalid compliance attribute; the fix is supplying it and letting the listing re-validate. Work through this sequence:

  1. Find the reason. Manage All Inventory → filter Inactive/Suppressed, or check Account Health → policy compliance. The row tells you which attribute is missing (e.g. "EU Responsible Person required").
  2. Fill the attribute in the listing's Safety & Compliance tab or through the compliance dashboard. Double-check formatting: a real postal address and a monitored email — placeholder text is a common rejection cause.
  3. Upload documents if asked. Some categories require test reports, a Declaration of Conformity, or safety pictogram images before reactivation.
  4. Wait for re-validation. Reactivation isn't always instant; if the listing stays down well beyond Amazon's stated processing window, open a case citing the ASIN and the attribute you updated.
  5. If a safety authority flagged the product, this is bigger than a data gap: under GPSR Article 22, marketplaces must act on removal orders from EU market-surveillance authorities within two working days, and recalls are published on the EU Safety Gate portal. You'll need to resolve the safety issue itself, not just refill fields.

Prevent rather than cure: add compliance data at listing creation, keep one canonical RP/manufacturer record you paste everywhere, and re-check attributes whenever you expand to a new EU marketplace, since requirements re-validate per marketplace.

Quick checklist before you list in the EU

  • Manufacturer name, postal address, and email entered on every EU ASIN
  • EU Responsible Person appointed and entered (if you're outside the EU)
  • Warnings and safety info uploaded — translated for each marketplace's language
  • RP + manufacturer details on the product/packaging or an included document
  • Category extras done: origin, hazmat, batteries, certifications
  • Compliance dashboard showing zero open actions
