   PPWR packaging conformity obligations start applying

   Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR) Article 15 and Annex VIII documentation duties apply from 12 August 2026: packaging placed on the EU market needs conformity documentation. Recording packaging materials and weights now prepares your technical file.

3. ⚖️ 2024-12-13

   GPSR starts applying — marketplaces begin enforcement

   Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (General Product Safety Regulation) applies from 13 December 2024. Every consumer product sold into the EU needs manufacturer identification, an EU Responsible Person for non-EU manufacturers, safety information in the buyer's language and internal risk documentation kept 10 years. Etsy, Amazon, eBay and TikTok Shop deactivate listings missing this data.

4. ⚖️ 2021-07-16

   Market surveillance regulation: EU economic operator required

   Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 Article 4 applies: products under harmonised legislation may only be placed on the EU market with a responsible economic operator established in the EU — the model GPSR Article 16 later extended to general consumer products.
